Thank you for choosing Voltra Mounts. These instructions cover installing either the Darko QuickMount Doubler Plate or the Voltra Mounts Doubler Plate under a Beyond Power DIY Dock on the matching host mount. Both plates use the same fastener path: 8× M4 × 0.7 × 35 mm socket-head cap screws (class 10.9 or greater) with lock/split and flat washers, threading into the DIY Dock. Following these steps keeps the plate flat, the clamp load even, and the assembly secure for your VOLTRA unit.

Before you start: Replacement hardware is included with purchase. Proper installation is the purchaser’s responsibility — take your time, verify flat mating, and use a torque tool in the published DIY Dock range before you load the setup.

Voltra Mounts approves this use; your Voltra Mounts warranty remains in effect when the product is used as approved and advised, and is not voided by normal approved installation — only by use we have not approved or advised, or by abuse.

⚠️ IMPORTANT — Fasteners: Kit hardware is 8× M4 × 0.7 × 35 mm socket-head cap screws (class 10.9 or greater) with a lock/split washer and flat washer on each screw — no nuts. Screws must thread cleanly into the DIY Dock. If a screw binds, stop, back it out, inspect threads, and realign before continuing.

Critical Installation Specifications

Stack: Doubler Plate mounts under the DIY Dock on the host mount face. M4 screws pass through the aligned holes and thread into the DIY Dock.

Screw specification: 8× M4 × 0.7 × 35 mm socket-head cap screws, class 10.9 or greater, into DIY Dock threads, with lock/split washer + flat washer per screw — no nuts

Washer order (each screw): screw head → lock/split washer → flat washer → through plate / mount stack → into DIY Dock threads.

Torque source: Beyond Power DIY Dock recommended torque — 2.0–2.5 Nm (17.7–22.1 in-lb). Do not exceed 2.5 Nm (22.1 in-lb).

Torque method: Hand-start all screws, verify flat mating, then tighten in progressive stages with an even star / criss-cross pattern. Do not jump straight to final torque.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Never exceed 2.5 Nm (22.1 in-lb) on these DIY Dock M4 screws. Over-torquing can damage dock threads or distort the stack. Under-torquing can allow movement under load. Always confirm the Doubler Plate sits flat against the host mount with no rock or gap before final torque.
Torque pattern: Use a consistent star / criss-cross order for every stage, then make one extra pass at final torque to confirm even seating.

Step-by-Step Installation Procedure

Step 1 — Prepare the Host Mount

Place your Darko QuickMount or matching Voltra Mounts host mount on a soft, protected work surface. Confirm you have the Doubler Plate variant that matches that mount (Darko plate for Darko QuickMount; Voltra Mounts plate for the Voltra Mounts host). Lay out the DIY Dock and the kit hardware (eight socket-head cap screws with washers).

Step 2 — Remove the DIY Dock (If Already Installed)

If a DIY Dock is already installed on the host mount:

  • Support the DIY Dock so it cannot drop when the last screw is removed.
  • Remove the existing M4 screws that secure the DIY Dock to the mount.
  • Set the DIY Dock aside for reinstallation with the Doubler Plate.

Required: When the DIY Dock comes off, the Beyond Power Dock Magnetic Cover Plate (the adhesive magnetic pad on the mounting face) must also be removed before the Doubler Plate can sit flat.

Step 3 — Remove the Dock Magnetic Cover Plate

Voltra Mounts mounts: Doubler kits and mounts shipped by Voltra Mounts do not have adhesive applied to the Dock Magnetic Cover Plate. On most Voltra Mounts mounts, a single threaded hole in the mount plate lets you push the magnetic pad upward from below for easy removal — lift or push it off with a gentle upward motion; no prying required. If you are working on a Beyond Power DIY Dock / Travel-style stack where the pad was glued down, use the adhesive removal steps below.

If the Dock Magnetic Cover Plate is attached with adhesive: starting at one edge, insert a non-marring prying tool and gently pry upward while applying steady force to separate the adhesive bond. Work progressively around the perimeter and across the pad until it is fully removed.

Note: The cover plate is pliable plastic with magnets on the reverse side. Minor flexing during removal is normal. Set it aside for reinstallation after the Doubler Plate and DIY Dock are installed.

⚠️ Replacement if damaged: If the Dock Magnetic Cover Plate tears, cracks, or the magnets separate during removal, replace it. Official Beyond Power part: Dock Magnetic Cover Plate (sold as a replacement kit / 3-pack on Beyond Power’s store).

Step 4 — Clean Adhesive Residue

Remove any remaining adhesive from the host mount’s DIY Dock mounting face using isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth, or a mild adhesive remover. Ensure the surface is completely clean and dry before positioning the Doubler Plate. A clean, flat face is required for proper mating.

Step 5 — Clean Mating Surfaces

Wipe the host mount’s DIY Dock mounting face, both faces of the Doubler Plate, and the DIY Dock mating face with a clean cloth. Remove chips, grit, chalk, or packaging residue so the plate can seat flat.

Step 6 — Position the Doubler Plate Under the DIY Dock

Place the Doubler Plate on the host mount so all fastener holes line up cleanly with the mount’s DIY Dock pattern. Set the DIY Dock on top of the Doubler Plate so the dock’s threaded holes align through the full stack (host mount → Doubler Plate → DIY Dock).

Alignment check: Confirm the plate sits flat against the mount with no rock or gap before installing fasteners.

⚠️ STOP — Flat mating required: The Doubler Plate must sit flat against the host mount with no wobble, rock, or gap. If there is any movement or the surfaces are not mating flat, do not install fasteners yet. Investigate and resolve the fit first (debris, coating buildup, misalignment, wrong plate for the mount, or damaged parts). Never complete the install if the surfaces are not mating flat.

⚠️ STOP: If the plate rocks, wobbles, or leaves a gap, stop and resolve it before proceeding. Do not torque fasteners over a non-flat fit.

Step 7 — Loosely Install All Eight M4 Screws (with Washers) into the DIY Dock

Build each fastener in washer order: screw head → lock/split washer → flat washer → through the plate / mount stack → into DIY Dock threads. Hand-start every M4 × 0.7 × 35 mm socket-head cap screw 2–3 turns. Do not force them. If a screw binds, back it out, inspect and clean the threads, replace any suspect fastener, and realign.

Continue until all eight screws are started and only lightly snug. Do not final-torque yet.

Hand-start first: Do not use a driver for final torque until every screw threads freely by hand and flat mating is confirmed.

Step 8 — Flat-Mating STOP (Re-check Before Torque)

With all screws only loose / lightly snug, re-check that the Doubler Plate is flush, square, and fully seated against the host mount, and that the DIY Dock is centered on the plate with no binding or uneven gap.

⚠️ Flat mating required: If you feel rock, wobble, or a gap at this stage, STOP. Do not final-torque. Find and fix the cause before continuing. Never finish the install unless the plate and mount are mating flat.

Step 9 — Progressive Final Torque

Follow the three-stage sequence above. Keep the same star / criss-cross pattern on every pass. Final torque every M4 screw to 2.0–2.5 Nm (17.7–22.1 in-lb). End with one extra verification pass at final torque.

⚠️ Never exceed 2.5 Nm (22.1 in-lb). Reinforce flat mating before this final stage — do not complete the install if surfaces are not mating flat.

Step 10 — Reinstall the Dock Magnetic Cover Plate

After the Doubler Plate and DIY Dock are installed and torqued, center the Dock Magnetic Cover Plate on the DIY Dock mounting face the same way it was originally positioned. The built-in magnets will hold the pad even if the original adhesive is gone.

Optional: For a more permanent hold, apply a thin layer of flexible adhesive, contact cement, or high-quality double-sided mounting tape to the back of the pad before seating it.

Step 11 — Final Inspection

  • Every M4 screw is within 2.0–2.5 Nm (17.7–22.1 in-lb) and has not backed off.
  • Each screw has lock/split + flat washer in the correct order and is fully engaged in DIY Dock threads.
  • The Doubler Plate is fully seated, flush, and square with no rock against the host mount.
  • The DIY Dock is centered on the plate and secure.
  • No screw shows binding, damaged threads, or incomplete engagement.
  • Powder coat and mating faces are free of burrs or debris trapped under the plate.

Step 12 — Optional Carabiner / 2:1 Note

Each Doubler Plate includes a 3/4 in carabiner hole for optional 2:1 or accessory setups. Use hardware rated for your training loads. Keep cable / strap routing clear of sharp edges and moving parts; follow your attachment hardware’s own guidance. This article does not prescribe a specific cable path.

Maintenance Recommendations

  • Re-check torque on the eight M4 × 0.7 × 35 mm DIY Dock screws (2.0–2.5 Nm / 17.7–22.1 in-lb) after the first few training sessions, then about every 90 days (or sooner if you train hard / under heavy dynamic loads).
  • Keep the Doubler Plate, host mount, and DIY Dock mating surfaces clean. Wipe away chalk, sweat, and grit that can affect flat seating.
  • About every 90 days, inspect the Doubler Plate, host mount, DIY Dock, and fasteners for wear, coating damage at contact points, or fastener loosening.
  • If you remove and reinstall screws, inspect DIY Dock threads again, replace any fastener that looks suspect (replacement hardware was included with purchase; contact Voltra Mounts through your order or website if you need more), and re-torque using the progressive sequence — never jump straight to final torque. Optional carabiner / 2:1 hardware should be checked for wear on the same schedule.
