Thank you for choosing Voltra Mounts. These instructions provide a clear, professional procedure for installing the Omni Doubling Plate onto the Omni Mount with the included M4 × 0.7 screws. Following these steps ensures even clamping, protects stainless threads, and keeps the plate flat and secure.

Before you start: Stainless-on-stainless threads can gall (seize). Start every screw by hand. Inspect screw and hole threads for wear, deformation, or other damage, and replace any fastener or hardware that looks suspect before you install.

Critical Installation Specifications

Screw specification: M4 × 0.7 into stainless steel

Torque method: Star / cross pattern in three progressive stages. Do not jump straight to final torque.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Do not exceed 2.6–2.7 Nm (23–24 in-lb). Over-torquing risks galling stainless threads or warping the plate. Always start screws by hand. If a screw binds, stop, back it out, inspect and clean the threads, replace any suspect fastener, and realign.
Torque pattern: Use a consistent star / cross order for every stage, then make one extra pass at final torque to confirm even seating.

Step-by-Step Installation Procedure

Step 1 — Prepare Surfaces

Place the Omni Mount on a soft, protected work surface. Clean the mating faces of the Omni Mount and the Doubling Plate. Inspect every screw and hole for wear, deformation, galling marks, or other damage. Replace any fastener that looks suspect before you continue.

Step 2 — Align the Doubling Plate

Place the Doubling Plate on the Omni Mount so all holes line up cleanly. Confirm the plate sits flat against the mount with no rock or gap before installing fasteners.

Side clearance: Between the Omni Mount gussets and the Doubling Plate the gap is very tight — about 0.100″ (one-tenth of an inch) of clearance per side. Seat the plate carefully and keep it square so it does not bind against a gusset while you check flat mating.
⚠️ STOP — Flat mating required: The Doubling Plate must sit flat on the Omni Mount with no wobble, rock, or gap. If there is any movement or the surfaces are not mating flat, do not install fasteners yet. Investigate and resolve the fit first (debris, coating buildup, misalignment, or damaged parts). Never complete the install if the surfaces are not mating flat.

⚠️ STOP: If the plate rocks, wobbles, or leaves a gap, stop and resolve it before proceeding. Do not torque fasteners over a non-flat fit.

Alignment check: The plate must be fully seated and square before any torque is applied.

Step 3 — Start Screws by Hand

Thread each M4 × 0.7 screw in by hand 2–3 turns. Do not force them. If a screw binds, back it out, inspect and clean the threads, replace the fastener if it looks suspect, and realign.

Hand-start first: Do not use a driver until every screw threads freely by hand.

Step 4 — Snug in Star Pattern

Bring all screws to light finger-tight using the star / cross order. Do not final-torque yet.

Step 5 — Thread Locker (If Needed)

If the screws are not already treated with a mild (low/medium strength) thread locker, apply a small amount of mild thread locker to the screw threads before final tightening. Do not use a high-strength (permanent) locker on these fasteners.

Mild thread locker: A light/medium blue-style locker helps keep clamp load consistent under vibration. Skip this only if the fasteners already have an equivalent treatment.

Step 6 — Progressive Torque (Critical)

Follow the three-stage sequence above. Keep the same star pattern on every pass. End with one extra verification pass at final torque.

⚠️ Never exceed 2.6–2.7 Nm (23–24 in-lb). Stainless galling and plate warp are the failure modes to avoid.

Step 7 — Final Inspection

  • Every screw is within the listed final torque range (2.0–2.5 Nm / 18–22 in-lb).
  • The Doubling Plate is fully seated, flush, and square with no rock.
  • No screw shows binding, damaged threads, or incomplete engagement.
  • Powder coat and mating faces are free of burrs or debris trapped under the plate.

Maintenance Recommendations

  • Re-check torque on the Omni Doubling Plate M4 × 0.7 screws (2.0–2.5 Nm / 18–22 in-lb; recommended target 2.2–2.3 Nm / 19–20 in-lb) after the first few training sessions, then about every 90 days (or sooner if you train hard / under heavy dynamic loads).
  • Keep the Doubling Plate and Omni Mount mating surfaces clean. Wipe away chalk, sweat, and grit that can affect seating in the tight gusset clearance.
  • About every 90 days, inspect the Doubling Plate, Omni Mount, and fasteners for wear, coating damage at contact points, or fastener loosening.
  • If you remove and reinstall screws, inspect threads again, replace any fastener that looks suspect, and reapply mild (low/medium) thread locker if the screws are not already treated.
