2:1 Doublers Explained

Inline vs Cross vs Doubler Plate vs Omni Doubler

A 2:1 doubler uses a block-and-tackle path on or with a mount so felt resistance from the VOLTRA I can go up to a maximum of 400 lbs. We build dedicated Inline and Cross Mounts, the Omni Doubler, and bolt-on Doubler Plates that upgrade a Mount you already own. Pick by orientation, directional need, or whether you are upgrading what you have — not by a single “best” starter.

Voltra Mounts designs and manufactures Mounts for the Beyond Power VOLTRA I on 3×3 power racks. We are independent of Beyond Power. Our mounts are USA-made. Precision fit.

Before you pick a doubler: If you do not yet know 1" vs 5/8", stop here and confirm pin size first → Will This Voltra Mount Fit My Rack? · How to Measure Your Rack · Brand compatibility · Which Voltra Mount?. Push pins are not included with doubler Mounts.

Still choosing a first Mount style (not specifically 2:1)? Start with Which Voltra Mount Do I Need?.

What a 2:1 doubler does (and does not do)

A true 2:1 doubler allows for the routing of the cable through a pulley and attaches back to the mount / doubling path so felt load can be about twice the device output. Inline 2:1, Cross 2:1, Omni Doubler, and Doubler Plate paths claim true 2:1 mechanical advantage up to 400 lbs felt. Treat that as the product claim on those listings.

A doubler does not:

  • Change your pin-size requirement (still match 1" or 5/8").
  • Include the push pin.
  • Include a DIY Dock unless you select that option (dock counts can differ by SKU).
  • Equal “two pins.” Dual Pin Tight Spot is a stability Mount, not a 2:1 path.

Do you need a doubler?

Yes — look at this page if you want true 2:1 / higher felt resistance, and you are ready to choose orientation, directional-plus-2:1, or a plate upgrade on a Mount you already own.

Other paths (not the primary job of this page):

Name trap (read this early)

Catalog names look alike. These are different products:

Name What it is 2:1 path? Don’t confuse with
Inline 2:1 Dedicated single-pin Mount; VOLTRA I parallel with the upright the Mount is on Yes — fixed orientation; up to 400 lbs felt Omni Lite Inline; Cross 2:1

60-second doubler decision tree

  1. Confirm 1" or 5/8" (or a special path such as Flat Foot). Measure if unsure → Fit · Measure.
  2. Already own a compatible Mount and only want 2:1? → Doubler Plate (match plate type on the PDP).
  3. Want directional cable (up / down / out) and 2:1 on every plane / each end? → Omni Doubler.
  4. Want fixed-orientation 2:1 only? → Inline if the VOLTRA I should sit parallel with the upright the Mount is on; Cross if it should sit perpendicular to the upright or crossmember the Mount is on.
  5. Want directional control without a full per-plane doubler? → Omni (or Omni Lite paths when those PDPs match the movement you want).
  6. Only need two-pin stability? → Evolver Dual Pin — exit this page; not a doubler.

There is no preferred “first doubler.” Dedicated doubling Mounts and Doubler Plates get equal weight — choose the path that matches your rack and training goal.

Inline 2:1 vs Cross 2:1 (orientation)

Both are dedicated single-pin 2:1 Mounts with the same true 2:1 / up to 400 lbs felt claim. The difference is how the VOLTRA I sits relative to the tube the Mount is attached to.

Inline 2:1

On the Inline Doubler, the VOLTRA I sits parallel with the upright the Mount is on (in line with that tube). It is a fixed-orientation 2:1 Mount with a dedicated pulley arm. Push pin not included. DIY Dock and carabiner shown in product images are not included by default — follow the PDP options.

→ Inline 2:1 Doubler

Cross 2:1

On the Cross Doubler, the VOLTRA I sits perpendicular to the upright or crossmember the Mount is on. Same 2:1 / up to 400 lbs felt story as Inline. Choose Cross when that geometry clears rack space and matches the pull path you train most — not because it is “better,” because the orientation is different.

→ Cross 2:1 Doubler

How to choose orientation

  • Clearance beside vs along the upright or crossmember.
  • Cable path for the movements you train most.
  • Prefer a simple orientation diagram (top-down or three-quarter rack view) over long prose when we publish graphics.

Neither orientation is ranked above the other. Match the geometry to your rack.

Omni Doubler (directional + 2:1 each plane)

The Omni Doubler is part of the Omni family. It keeps the same directional cable control as Omni — upwards, downwards, or straight outwards — and adds 2:1 on each plane / each end, so you can double felt resistance for the direction you are using. Product claim: true 2:1 up to 400 lbs felt.

Options on the listing include Single or Dual pin, 1" or 5/8", and an optional DIY Dock selection that includes two Docks when chosen. The push pin is not included.

Do not confuse:

  • Omni Doubler’s dual-pin option with the separate Evolver Dual Pin / Dual Pin Tight Spot product.
  • Omni Doubler with Omni, which is directional and is not the full per-plane doubler product (Omni’s PDP notes a block-and-tackle attachment for the straight-out pull only).

Doubler Plate (upgrade path)

When the Plate is the right answer

If you already own a compatible Mount and want 2:1 without buying a new rack Mount, the Doubler Plate is the upgrade path. It bolts on under the DIY Dock. It is not a full rack Mount on its own. Product claim: true 2:1 up to 400 lbs felt after install on a compatible Mount.

Match plate type

Plate types on the PDP include Travel Platform, Darko QuickMount, Voltra Mounts, and Omni. Match the type to the Mount you own, then follow the matching Help install guide:

Flat Foot + Voltra Mounts Doubler Plate

Evolver Flat Foot is approved for use with a Voltra Mounts Doubler Plate. Select the Voltra Mounts plate type on the Doubler Plate listing and follow the Darko QuickMount & Voltra Mounts Doubler Plate installation guide.

Install / fit constraints (brief)

  • A flat mating surface is required. Do not install if protrusions prevent a flush seat.
  • Follow the PDP note on transferring the magnetic plate from the original Dock center to the Doubler Plate.
  • Hardware depends on plate type — use the matching Help article for steps and torque. We do not duplicate full install procedures here.
  • Using the plate with Darko or Beyond Power products may affect that manufacturer’s warranty — check with them.
  • The plate itself does not include an M10 threaded hole (carabiner hole yes — confirm on the PDP).

Omni (directional)

Directional up / down / out. Useful when you want cable direction without the full Omni Doubler product. See the name-trap table above.

→ Omni

Omni Lite Inline / Omni Lite Cross

Directional Lite paths in the Omni family. A doubling feature has not been included as a feature of the Omni Lite family. Name similarity with Inline 2:1 / Cross 2:1 is easy to mix up — confirm you are on the product you intend.

Hook Up

Compact connection / landmine-style adapter. Not a rack Mount and not a doubler.

→ The Hook Up

Single Pin Tight Spot (optional doubling tip)

Single Pin Tight Spot can be used for doubling via the lifting eye and the threaded hole in the center as the attachment point. Among Mounts that include an M10 hole, only Single Pin Tight Spot gets that optional-doubling callout on this page. We are not expanding the doubler product group to other M10-hole Mounts for that reason.

M10 Lifting Eye

The M10 Lifting Eye is an accessory, not a Mount. It may appear in doubler merchandising lists because it supports certain attachment setups — it is not a standalone doubler Mount.

About the 2:1 Doublers collection

Our 2:1 Doublers collection lists products that can be used for doubling, even when an item is not a complete standalone doubler by itself (for example Single Pin Tight Spot, Omni, or the M10 Lifting Eye alongside dedicated Inline, Cross, Omni Doubler, and Doubler Plate SKUs). For a dedicated 2:1 Mount or plate, open the matching PDP from the sections above.

What every doubler order still needs you to decide

  • Hole / pin size: 1" or 5/8" (or plate type if you are buying a Doubler Plate; Flat Foot path if that is your tube)
  • Mount only vs With DIY Dock — Dock is included only when you select that option (Omni Doubler / Omni = 2 docks when selected; Omni Lite = 1 when selected; Inline / Cross follow the PDP)
  • Push / mag pin source — not included with the Mount
  • Carabiner / lifting-eye hardware if your block-and-tackle setup needs them — items shown in photos are often not included; confirm on the PDP
  • Shim / chafe fine-tune — included kits per PDP; see Shim kit installation

USA-made. Precision fit. Follow each product page for inclusions and options.

Example paths (examples, not rankings)

  1. Fixed orientation, VOLTRA I parallel with the upright → Inline 2:1
  2. Fixed orientation, VOLTRA I perpendicular to the upright or crossmember → Cross 2:1
  3. Directional up / down / out and 2:1 on every plane → Omni Doubler
  4. Already own a compatible Mount (including Flat Foot + Voltra Mounts plate) → Doubler Plate with the correct plate type
  5. Directional only, without a full per-plane doubler → Omni
  6. Own Single Pin Tight Spot and want an optional doubling attachment → use the lifting eye and center threaded hole on Single Pin Tight Spot

FAQ

Do I need a VOLTRA 2:1 doubler?

Only if you want true 2:1 / higher felt resistance. Choose Inline, Cross, Omni Doubler, or a Doubler Plate on a Mount you already own. Two-pin Mounts are for stability, not 2:1.

Inline vs Cross 2:1 — which one?

Inline orients the VOLTRA I parallel with the upright the Mount is on. Cross orients it perpendicular to the upright or crossmember the Mount is on. Same 2:1 idea; pick the orientation that fits rack space and pull path.

What’s the difference between Omni and Omni Doubler?

Omni is directional cable control (up / down / out). Omni Doubler adds 2:1 on each plane / each end. Omni’s product page notes a block-and-tackle attachment for the straight-out pull only — it is not the full Omni Doubler product.

What is a Doubler Plate?

A bolt-on plate that upgrades an existing compatible Mount (Travel Platform, Darko QuickMount, Voltra Mounts, Omni types) to 2:1. It is not a full rack Mount. Match plate type and follow the matching Help install guide.

Can Flat Foot use a Doubler Plate?

Yes. Evolver Flat Foot is approved for use with a Voltra Mounts Doubler Plate. Select that plate type on the Doubler Plate product page and use the Voltra Mounts / Darko install guide.

Does a doubler include a push pin or DIY Dock?

Push pin is not included. DIY Dock is included only when you select that option (Omni Doubler’s dock option includes two).

Is Dual Pin Tight Spot a doubler?

No. It is a two-pin stability Mount. Omni Doubler’s dual-pin option is a different product listing.

What about Omni Lite Inline / Omni Lite Cross?

They are directional Omni-family Mounts. A doubling feature has not been included as a feature of the Omni Lite family. For fixed-orientation 2:1, use Inline 2:1 or Cross 2:1.

What felt resistance do Voltra 2:1 doublers claim?

Inline, Cross, Doubler Plate, and Omni Doubler claim true 2:1 mechanical advantage up to 400 lbs felt. Treat that as the product claim on those listings.

Will a doubler fit my Rogue / REP / Titan rack?

Match 3×3 + hole size (1" vs 5/8") first — same fit rules as other Voltra Mounts. See Fit, Brand compatibility, and Measure. A Doubler Plate path depends on the Mount you already own, not the rack brand alone.

Can I add 2:1 without buying a whole new rack Mount?

Often yes — Doubler Plate on a compatible existing Mount, if the mating surface is flat and you pick the correct plate type. Flat Foot uses the Voltra Mounts plate type.

Can Single Pin Tight Spot be used for doubling?

Yes. Single Pin Tight Spot can be used for doubling via the lifting eye and the threaded hole in the center as the attachment point. That optional callout is for Single Pin Tight Spot only on this page.

Why do I see Omni or Single Pin inside the 2:1 Doubler collection?

Products on that list can be used for doubling even when an item is not a complete standalone doubler by itself. For a dedicated 2:1 Mount or plate, shop Inline, Cross, Omni Doubler, or Doubler Plate.

Is Voltra Mounts the same as Beyond Power?

No. We are independent. Our Mounts are designed for the VOLTRA I. If you use a Doubler Plate with Darko or Beyond Power products, check with that manufacturer about warranty.

What else do I need for a block-and-tackle setup?

Follow the product page for your SKU. Push pin is not included. Dock only if selected. Carabiner / lifting-eye hardware shown in images may not be included — confirm on the PDP and Help articles.
